DAY 1
Arrival and transfer to Hotel in Kampala (BB)
DAY 2
Queen Elizabeth National Park
After breakfast leave Kampala cross the equator, driving through Mbarara southwest towards Kasese town. Arrive in Queen Elizabeth National Park and check-in at Mweya Safari Lodge. Afternoon, set out on a boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel connecting lakes Edward and George. Here we will be greeted to an amazing display of abundant bird life around Mweya. More than 600 bird species have been recorded and what is thought to be the highest concentration of hippos in the entire African continent. We will then return to our hotel for some chilled soft drinks and dinner at MWEYA HOSTELS (you can upgrade to MWEYA SAFARI LODGE/ JACANA SAFARI LODGE). Fullboard.
DAY 3
Queen Elizabeth National Park
We set out early in the morning for a game drive in the northern part of the park on the Kasenyi Track in search of lions, elephants, solitary buffaloes. This is the best time for opportunities of viewing the cats in action owing to the vast population of Uganda Kobs. We have an excellent chance to view just about every animal here at very close range. Later, return for breakfast and the rest of the morning can be spent at the pool side. After lunch, we set out to visit the Baboon cliff and the crater lakes north of the park. Have dinner and overnight at your accommodation.
DAY 4
Kyambura Gorge, transfer to Bwindi Forest
We set off early in the morning and head to the Kyambura wildlife reserve. Here we will be able to track the chimpanzee in the tropical rain forest. We hike into the Kyambura river gorge as we search for the chimps. The beautiful river valley is home to many species of birds and butterflies. Thereafter drive through stunning savannah grasslands as we head towards the breathtaking adventures of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park. After check-in we go on guided tours looking for the many bird species available here. More than 230 different species of birds have been sighted. We return to our accommodation, BUHOMA COMMUNITY BANDAS (but you can upgrade to LAKE KITANDARA LUXURY TENTED CAMP or better GORILLA FOREST CAMP) where we will stay for the next 3 nights. Full board x3.
DAY 5
Buhoma, Gorilla tracking
Today enjoy surely. After breakfast, proceed for the morning briefing before enjoying the highlight of the trip- Gorilla trekking which may last the entire day. We trek through the rainforest and bamboo covered slopes, accompanied by a guide and trackers, in search of a mountain gorilla family. The walking can sometimes be tough and long, but when you catch a glimpse of the magnificent silverback, any discomforts will be totally forgotten. These gentle giants are highly endangered and anyone suffering even the slightest of ailments including a cough will not be allowed to go this trek. When sighted, visitors will be guided to within 6 metres from the gorillas, sit around them for a whole hour while gazing into their big round eyes. These giants are so powerful and can sometimes weigh up to 250kilos. Pictures with non flash zoom lens can be taken. We return to our accommodation for a good night's rest. Full board.
DAY 6
Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, Munyanga waterfall, birding walks. We set out early morning walk through beautiful forest grasslands as we head towards the breathtaking adventures of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park. We relax mid-morning as we take in the majesty of our surroundings. Heading to Munyanga water falls, we go on a guided tour looking for the many bird species available here. More than 230 different species of birds have been sighted here. This is to allow another group to go tracking in case permits are not on the same day. Full Board.
DAY 7
Lake Mburo National Park
After breakfast, we set out on a 4 hour drive to Lake Mburo National Park where we will go on a game drive in search of eland antelope, zebra, impala and many acacia- associated birds. We visit some of the five lakes within the park where hippos, crocodiles and variety of water birds will be seen. We return for lunch and a short rest. After lunch, we set out on a guided walk around the park and crown off the afternoon with a boat ride on the lake. We return to the camp for dinner and overnight stay. DAY 8
We complete our trip with the journey back to Kampala and onward transfer to the airport.
